Walt Willey, Michael O’Leary, Van Hansis, Mandy Bruno, Trevor St. John, Jacob Young, and Ewa da Cruz--just some of the 20 Soap stars in attendance this year at the 10th annual South West Florida Soapfest charity weekend, May 16th – 18th 2008. This year promises to be even more special with a record number of stars ready to make the trip to Marco Island’s beautiful, sandy shores for Soapfest’s 10th year anniversary. Actors from All My Children, As The World Turns, Guiding Light and One Life to Live will mingle with festival goers for a weekend of special events for everyone; including non-stop cruises, parties, auctions, and Walt Willey’s comedy performance.  If you have never experienced this wonderful event set in the largest of Florida’s ten thousand islands, then now is your chance to get up close and personal to your favorite stars in this exotic setting; Marco Island.

The 2008 event kicks off in style on Saturday, May 17 at 6pm with an exclusive VIP event, “A Night of Stars”.  There will be opportunities for up close and personal time with residents of Springfield, Oakdale, Pine Valley, and Port Charles.  Celebrity guests will be available for autograph signing, photos, Q&A, auctions and lots of surprises.

The fun continues later that night with the 4th annual Celebrity Bartender Bash at Vandy’s 5 Brothers Pizza & Sports Bar.  Back by popular demand this Karaoke event will have daytime celebrities singing their hearts out and pouring drinks all night long.

On Sunday, May 18, from noon to 3, it’s an afternoon of Cruisin’ Boozin’ & Schmoozin’ With The Stars on the beautiful Marco Island Princess.  This idyllic event provides the perfect opportunity to mix and mingle with daytime’s best during a sightseeing tour of beautiful Marco Island.  Once again there will be opportunities for autographs, photos, raffle prizes and auction items. 

If cruising isn’t your thing and you prefer golf, you can tee-off with one of your favorite actors for a “private” one-on-one game.   Imagine playing a round with one of daytime’s “hotties”?  Spaces are limited and only “serious golfers” wanted.  Email soapfest@vsm.net if you’re interested. 

And to cap off this exciting weekend, Walt Willey will be performing his stand-up comedy act live at the Off The Hook Comedy Club at Capt. Brien's Seafood & Raw Bar, with shows at 6pm and 8:30m pm.  Walt has performed his “adults only” set at premiere comedy clubs all over the country-the Comedy Store, Caroline’s, Zanies, Catch a Rising Star-Walt has done them all.  And both Capt. Throughout the weekend there will be opportunities to get your hands on some real exciting items during various charity auctions.
